Yes, my ggg grandfather was Thomas Hopkins, s/o Richard Hopkins who went to Sullivan County, Tennessee. Thomas later returned to Patrick with Tn. born wife Mary Webb. I have been told Richard was the son of an earlier Richard who lived in the Critz section of Patrick County, but have not really followed this up. Would love to hear any information you have. Hi, I am a decendant of all the families listed. Richard Wood and Rachel Cockram, Francis Turner, Nelson Moran, James Nowlin, Nelson Moran, Thomas Hopkins, Jeremiah Burnett. Hello Barb and gentle cousins, I am relatively new to the list and am researching the O'NEAL family. My gggGrandfather (Maternal), John O'Neal married Sally Carruthers in Guilford Co. NC in 1805 and moved to the Grayson/Carroll Co, VA area in 1810, when it was part of PATRICK Co, VA. It appears that John died between 1827 and 1830. The 1830 census shows Sally and children, but not John. I am trying to find his final resting place. It is believed to be near the Goodspur, a southerly spur off the Blue Ridge Mountains near Pauls creek. I hope someone of you may be familiar with this area and can point me in the right direction. I can do a lot of leg work. Thanks to all. Bruce brucedaniels@csi.com

Truman, I posted earlier about my David McGowan about 1750-90's, an ancestor, whom I was told was originally from Henry Co Va. His wife could have been Sarah. His children could have been Alexander, Andrew, John, Solomon, Samuel, Lucy, Margaret, and Thomas. Any help appreciated. Linda
Hi Truman --- I have a Samuel TURNER (s/o Francis) who married a Rachel WOOD. She was the granddaughter for Richard "Father Dickey" WOOD. I am not a direct descendant of Rachel & Samuel but I am descended from Father Dickey. Also, I have 7 of the 8 names you listed in my direct line. How are you related to these names? I'd be interested to know. Regards, Barb G.
Here is my brick wall. I am looking for David, whom I find in Wayne Co Ky during the early 1800's. I was told that they all came from Henry Co Va., but I am not sure what part of Va. they came from. I believe his wife's name was Sarah. The following children of David, I am also looking for. These also show up there in Wayne Co Ky. Alexander, Andrew, Lucy, Margaret ( Peggy), Solomon, John, Samuel, and Thomas. Any help will be appreciated. Linda

Hi! I am new to the Patrick Co., VA list. I have been doing genealogy for several years. The lines I am researching in Patrick Co., are: CLAY, CARTER/CARTIER other lines I am researching include: ANDERSON, BURK/BURKE, STANLEY, WRIGHT, REEDY, STEVENS, ELSWICK, HARVEY, MUTTER, RAY/WRAY/RHEA/, HICKS, PORTER, and many others. My Clay/Carter line is this: I have Jordan Clay marrying Mary Carter in Halifax Co., VA in 1796. The next mention of this Clay family including Jordan's brother and sisters is in Patrick Co., VA. They then migrate to Pike Co., KY. Jordan's father was Caleb Clay, wife unknown, and was supposed to have been constable in Halifax Co., VA. Robin
Is there a relationship between James VIA, Jr., father of Elijah DeHart VIA (who married Nancy J. AKERS, 1851, PCVA) and James VIA, son of William and brother of Nancy VIA (who married Stephen AKERS, 7 Sep 1801, PCVA)? Thank you, Earl B. Akers, Sr. Puyallup WA
I have been trying to put together a page of "Forgotten Towns" or Forgotten Communities. I have ask for an input into this and have had little response. Often I speak with people who remember there was a town????, and I have decided to try to gather up those memories. I confess I have not worked hard on it due to the holidays, getting in my when I started trying to come up with a layout for the page. NOW, I WELCOME any news about a town that was there and is gone today. I would like the name of the town and the highway or county road number, as well as the county and state, where it once was. Peggy, Poor House Creek runs southeast from Lover's Leap area to the Mayo River just west of Stuart. It seems the entire creek is east of present day US 58. This is per a topograpic map of the area. He has been very difficult to pin down, but I just received some information that leads me to believe that his home may have been on Poor House Creek. Does anyone know where this is or have any information about Light families who may have lived in that area? Thanks for your help.
