    3. I would like to make contact with anyone who may be researching the surnames of JAMES and HANCOCK in Patrick Co. There was a John James on the 1810 Patrick Co. census. He is not listed on the 1820 census, may have died before 1820. Also, looking for a Frances/Fannie James, widow, who married a ______ Hancock abt. 1820. Any help would be most appreciated. Bev

I will forward your message to some other Soyars reasearches and see what we come up with. Truman Adkins Fieldale, Virginia

    3. Somehow I sent this before finishing. Anyway...Joseph Cardwell SCALES married Sarah Elizabeth SOYARS who was the daughter of James and Jane SOYARS, according to the PCVA Marriage Record. James and (Sarah) Jane are in the 1860 PCVA Census as follows: Sayers, James, Jr. 23 Farmer Virginia Sarah 20 Virginia Elizabeth 1 Virginia I suspect that James is the son of James and Elizabeth Fowlks SOYARS. Elizabeth died 9 Jul 1858 of Flux. James is in the 1850 PCVA census as follows: James Soyars 62 VA Farmer $2500 Elizabeth 52 VA Elizabeth Sims 26 VA James 8 VA Joseph Soyars 21 VA Laborer Sally 19 VA James 17 VA Laborer William 15 VA Phillip 9 VA Rebecca 7 VA In the 1860 Census James is listed with William, Phillip, and Rebecca. In the 1870 Census, Sarah SOYARS, wife of James Jr., is listed as follows: <<...>> I presume that James Jr. died between 1860 and 1870, but I don't have the death records for those years and I don't find him buried in OE Pilson's cemetery book. Any ideas????? 3. Earl, It is either Sarah Martha who married Reed Belcher (my 2nd great grandfather) or her other daughter, Nancy E. Akers who married Edward Jeffereson "Jeff" Belcher, son of Harden Belcher. Harden Belcher was Reed Belcher's brother. Have a great day, David Conner. -----Original Message----- From: Ebasr@aol.com [mailto:Ebasr@aol.com] Sent: Saturday, January 30, 1999 10:26 AM To: VAPATRIC-L@rootsweb.com Subject: BELCHER/AKERS Who is M.E. Belcher? Somewhere, probably on this list, I picked up information that M.E. Belcher was the informant for her mother's death record. Her mother was Agnes Houchins Akers, died 2 Apr 1884. I have a daughter of Agnes, Sarah, married to Reed Belcher, and I have a daughter Mary unmarried. Did daughter Mary also marry a Belcher? Best wishes, Earl B. Akers, Sr. Puyallup WA

    2. David N. Murray
    3. Hello; I am brand new to this list, and manage a family archives for the Murrays of Clondulane, Fermoy. We have an ongoing research project, now in its second year, to research and write our family history. During the year last year, when we were announcing this project to the relations, an old family letter came in from a relation in England. This letter was written in Mar. 1881 sent from Iowa to Clondulane. It was a son writing a very emotional letter to his father after the death of his mother, and uncle, almost simultaneously. In this 1881 letter, which is posted at the URL below, John MURRAY in IOWA mentions "I wrote to cousin Pat in Virginia". He was referring to: Patrick MURRAY son of James and Margaret O'Brien MURRAY born in Clondulane, Fermoy bpt. 14 Sep 1844 St. Patrick's Church, Fermoy, Co. Cork, Ireland It is this man, and his family who we are starting a search for this year. Patrick's Pedigree: http://www.murrayfamily.org/ped02.htm 1881 Letter: http://www.murrayfamily.org/letter.htm If you can offer any assistance in this regard, please contact me below. ANY CLUES as to where I can begin my search ARE IMPORTANT and much appreciated. You are cordially invited to explore our family web, which may offer links to help your research as well.
