Looking at my Virginia Atlas and Gazeteer the Little River flows into the New just south of the city of Radford, within sight of I-81, it forms the boundry with Pulaski County (formed 1839), and very close to the Claytor Lake Dam. What is the date of these surveys? I would estimate it is about 20 miles from this place to Woods Gap. If anyone is interested, I have a copy of the funeral program for Richard "Dickie" Wood...I successfully scanned it and can send it via email if you are interested.... Some interesting notes about it are that 1-his dates are listed as 1775-1865, which are in contrast to what everyone has so graciously sent me...2- The prayer was led by Elder S.L. Wood, anyone know who that is?? On the back page, it says that they had a family reunion that year and to come prepared to trace you family history back through the generations to Richard Wood and therby assist the various committees in preparing what we (they) hope will evolve into a history of the Wood family......wonder what ever happened there??? Anyone interested in copies let me know...... Missy (Wood) Coyne

Thomas J. Shelton abt. 1815, was a planter, residing in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Summary This is a confederate tax form completed by Shelton on his tobacco crop. Cite As Thomas J. Shelton, Confederate tax form, 1863, Accession 31299. Personal papers collection, Virginia State Library and Archives, Richmond, Virginia. Source:VTLS Library of VA. This appears to be the Thomas Shelton I've been looking for. Another Shelton researcher has info that this Capt.Thomas J.Shelton did marry Eliz. Allen. making these my GGrandparents. Question? In all other documents including census shows Thomas N. and Elizabeth Shelton, with children of my line. Does anyone know if this is the same Thomas ? At any rate I am searching for parents of Thomas. All replies welcomed! Thanks! Deborah Shelton
Barb, Sorry I typed Ms. Eisen's name wrong. It was Virginia Wood Eisen, Ph.D. She said she had done extensive research over the years and wished to share with someone in case she would not be able to publish it. She is online and I hope to see her info there someday. Judy
Barb, The proof is quite extensive. When I have time, I will post some of it. The jist is that a lady in PA, Ms. Virginia Eisen Wood, Ph.D., saw my webpage. She phoned me to say that her ancestor, John Wood, son of Stephen was not mine. She sent me a lot of documents in the mail (John's will), land records, etc. We spoke on the phone a couple of times and emailed some. She convinced me. If he is the same, he had two complete and distinctly different families and lived in Williamson, TN while maintaining a home in Franklin also. I just can't imagine it. We both believe that there is a definite close connection with Stephen. Judy
Barb, Do you have any McGowan surnames in that will book, particularily David or John McGowan !780-1799? Thanks, Linda
