I am tracking the ancestry of James William Christopher Columbus Craddock (1877-1948) and his wife Pandora Texas "Dora" Nunn (1877-1953). Both were born in Patrick County. Columbus was the son of Daniel Franklin "Frank" Craddock and his first wife Martha Ann Corn. Frank was the son of James C Craddock and Delphia Martin. Martha was the daughter of Joshua C Corn and Matilda Spencer. Dora was the daughter of William Nunn and his third wife Martha Jane "Mattie" Pike. William was the son of Major Nunn and Eleanor Collins. Mattie was the daughter of Joseph Pike and Sarah "Sally" Beasley. I have more but this should give you guys an idea of why I'm here.
I'm sorry, but I didn't save the requirements for the information you want, or will accept, on the family stories. Do you require charts, stories, complete genealogy? In what form will you accept the stories---email, CD's, floppies, or snail mail? Thanks for getting this together for us, and forgive me for being tardy. Fred (Sonnie) Williams > Hello everyone, > > The deadline for getting your family stories and photos in for the Patrick County Heritage Book is quickly approaching. The cut off date is May 20th for the heritage book, and June 15th for the WWII pictorial book. I know some of you out there are good writers for I have seen the stories you post to the list. If you don't have enough for a family story, then send in pictures with a 50 word or less caption, for our collage. Those pictures can be of any person or anything pertaining to Patrick County. > > If you need a brochure on the heritage book you can download one at this site: <www.myvirginiaheritage.com/heritage_books/patrick_county2HTM> > > At this time we do not have a website for downloading a brochure on the WWII pictorial book but if you will email me privately with your snail mail address, I will see that one is sent out to you. Remember the veteran must have either been born or lived in Patrick County at some point. If you have an ancestor that was in WWII with connections to Patrick Co, you can put that in the heritage book. Same directions: a picture of the veteran and a caption of 50 words or less. You can also send in pictures of any memoriabilia on your veteran, such as pictures of their medals, copies of any letters they might have written home, their lapel buttons, etc. Also we would love to hear from anyone that was connected to the Red Cross during WWII, or anyone that has information or pictures of the scrap metal effort that took place in Patrick County. > > For the WWII pictorial book, please include the Name, Rank, Branch of Service, Date of Entry, Date of Separation, any battles or campaigns, decorations or citations for each veteran. Copies of the pictures should be on glossy paper with your name and address written on the back (please use acid free ink), and include a stamped, self addressed envelope large enough to hold your pictures so we can get them returned to you. > > For the heritage book, please double space your stories and include a word count. If you use MSWord on your computer, you can go to TOOLS and click the word count there. The title of your article does not count in the word count, and if you use dates 4 letters equals one word, and 5 letters equals two words. For example if you used the date 4-9-05 this would be counted as one word. > > You can write one 500 word Pioneer story plus one picture (this would be before 1840, and one 500 word family story with one picture and submit it without cost to you. You can write as many stories as you want and put your name as the writer, but you will have to submit the story in someone else's name. If you want your photos returned to you please include a stamped, self addressed envelope so we can return those, and also write (with acid free ink or light pencil) your name an address on the back of the photos. > > The deadline for ordering a copy of the heritage book is May 20th. We will not be ordering any extra books so it will be first come. If you need more information, please email me privately and I will see what I can do to help you or answer any questions. > > Thank you for your interest in our books. > > Sincerely, > Pat Long > Roanoke, VA > > > ==== VAPATRIC Mailing List ==== > Patrick County Heritage Book Volumes 1 & 2 > http://www.myvirginiaheritage.com/heritage_books/patrick_county2.htm >
