Both of these families migrated to the same area of Kentucky and then later to Missouri. Both families intermarried with the Ruckers, who made the same migration from Virginia to Missouri via Kentucky. The following are some examples I have in my family database: 1.) In 1698, Thomas Burton, was witness to the will of Mary Head in Middlesex County, VA 2.) May Burton Jr. , son of May Burton Sr. and Hannah Medley, married Sara Head in Orange County, VA circa mid 1740’s. Sara was the daughter of Benjamin Head Sr. and Martha Sharman. 3.) Frances Burton, daughter of May Sr. married Ambrose Medley in Orange Co. in 1773. Their son, Jacob Medley, married Frances Head in Orange County in 1804. 4.) Mary Burton, daughter of May Sr. married John Rucker in Orange Co. in 1767. Their daughter, Mildred Rucker, married George M. Head in 1789 in Orange Co. George was the son of Benjamin Head Sr. 5.) Lucy Burton, daughter of May Burton Jr and Sara Head, married James Collins in Orange, Co. in 1793. Their daughter, Sarah Collins, married James Head in 1815 in Orange Co. 6.) Reuben Burton, son of John Burton and Elizabeth Hudson (and grandson of May Sr.) married Mary (Polly) Head. 7.) Minor Rucker, grandson of Mary Burton and John Rucker, married Harriet Head in Orange Co. in 1822. Minor Rucker ended up in Randolph Co., MO and was the instigator of a law suit over his grandfather’s will that occupied the Ruckers, Burtons and Heads for several years. 8.) Henry Head married Elizabeth Sanford in 1794 in Orange Co.. She was the daughter of Robert Sanford and Ann Durrett. William Burton, son of May Burton Sr., married Elizabeth’s sister, Sarah Sanford. There are probably even more relationships I have not uncovered. Hope this helps.
