    3. I am interested in learning about Spencer Lane born in Orange county 1799-1807, father unknown. I am also interested in learning about William A. Lane of Culpeper who appears on the early censuses of Virginia. I will be moving to Fredericksburg VA this fall, which is only about 40 Miles from Orange and Culpeper, VA. I am planning on spending time trying to find material about the Lanes there. If anyone is researching this family and would like to share information, please contact me at rjmillerjr@erols.com. My e-mail address will change when I move. Spencer Lane went through Tennessee and Kentucky into Illinois where he is buried in Jefferson County. Thanks so much to anyone who can shed some light on this. Spencer Lane could possibly be my gr gr gr grandfather. My gr gr grandfather was Moses Lane born in Kentucky in 1827 and died in Hamilton County IL in 1890. Spencer named a son William and Moses named his first son William A. Lane and my gr grandfather named his first son William Allen Lane, etc. Moses and Spencer lived in close proximity from at least 1850 until their deaths. They both purchased land about 1854 in that area. That is why I am interested in the William A. Lane of Culpeper. William A. Lane's wife may have been in Orange County when Spencer was born, perhaps with relatives. Spencer Lane's family has names that are repeated in my Lane family of the same timeframe, like Aldean/Aldine (girl's name) and Everet (man's name) and others. I have heard my grandfather refer to individuals in that family as cousins. He passed away several years ago and I didn't bother to write anything down which is the ca! se. My mother's name was Aldene and she told me she was named for a favorite cousin. There are many things that link my Moses with Spencer's family. I hope while I am living in retirement in Fredericksburg that I can uncover some information to solve this mystery because right now I cannot move past Moses Lane. I think my Moses may have been a namesake for either Moses Penningnton or Moses Wilson. Just a guess. Lynda Lane Miller
