    3. Hi Marsha, I too am searching for a Susannah Marshall. My Susannah was the daughter of Leonard Davis. Leonard married Mary Marshall, a widower in Albemarle Co VA on Dec 23, 1788 [B/C Papers 1788-92]/ I also found a Revolutionary War Pension Record # S.12736 dated June 17, 1833 which states that Leonard Davis is living with his daughter Susannah Marshall. It further states that he married Mary Wilson. (Note: I believe this is the same Mary Marshall, a widower listed above). Also the 1840 Rockingham Co census, a Leonard Davis age 79 years is living with Susanna Marshall. I was wondering if in your search for your Susannah Marshall, you have found Leonard Davis or Mary Wilson Marshall Davis? 3. Cathy, I just can not quite get a handle on all of the below to see if either of us have clues among the information. Certainly this is the right time frame. But, no, I haven't found Leonard Davis nor Mary Wilson Marshall Davis. But let me add to the below what I have sent to this mail list before: > I have a small pamphlet that I received from the Zion Baptist Church > in Orange County, Virginia which was founded in 1813. It is a very > short history of the founding of the church. I am interested in > identifying as many of the men that are named as being present at the > first meeting: > > About three and one half miles south of Orange in the home of Brother > Hawkins with James Arnold, Roger Mallory, Nicolas Bickers, Joseph > Atkins, James Perry, Killie Hoard, Benjamin Hawkins, Hamlet Sanford, > John Rogers, William Bell, William Mallory, William Hancock, William > Embry, Coleman Marshall, Henry Perry, John Churchhill Gordon, and > Thomas Hawkins. Rev A. Waller preached the first sermon. I believe that the Coleman Marshall in the above list was also related to the people that I mentioned in the original e-mail. The will that I was referring to almost certainly belongs to the Benjamin named in the church list. I am not absolutely positive if the meeting described took place in Benjamin Hawkins's home or if it took place in the home of Benjamin's brother who would have been the father of Thomas Hawkins. But I have a gut feeling that there was intermarriage between the Hawkins family and the Marshall family. Actually a suspect intermarriage between the Hawkins family and the Perry family and the Marshall family and the Bell family.....It is very interesting to note that the Thomas Hawkins named above had a grandson named Jesse Marshall Hawkins. My own name comes from this man as my father was named Marshall after his grandfather and I received the female version of the name....Funny--I have suddenly become fonder of my own name while typing this e-mail....And even more interested in this Marshall family!
