The next Hawkins land transaction that I found was dated Sep 27, 1770 I think that it says that Benjamin Hawkins gave Frances Moore a Negro named Peter and 50 pounds cash and recieved a female Negor and household goods that Frances's wife Lucy's portion ....It seems to me that Lucy is Benjamin's daughter but I am unclear about portion of what? This transaction is witnessed by John Willis and J. Branham and William Hawkins. Benjamin has requested that the transaction be recorded. My interpretation here is that we are again talking about Benjamin who was married to Sarah Willis. My data base says that Sarah's dad (if her dad was indeed a Mr. Willis--their is some discussion about which of her mother's several husbands was Sarah's dad) was William Willis, so this is likely to have been a brother to Sarah...perhaps a neighbor of Benjamins. I don't know Mr. Branham. And William Hawkins....My data base says that other researchers say that this Benjamin had both a brother William Hawkins and a son William Hawkins.
