Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Orange/388 Surname: Davis, Sanders ------------------------- I am searching for people connect to William Jefferson DAVIS Sr. Per the 1860 census of Orange Co., VA he was born about 1826. He married Sarah Ann REYNOLDS (b. 1819?) on Jan. 4, 1849. Children were Reuben T. DAVIS (1851-1944), Frances I. DAVIS (b. 1854), Mary E. DAVIS (b. 1859), and William Jefferson DAVIS Jr. (my great-grandfather), born Sept. 7, 1861; died Nov. 29, 1945. William Jefferson DAVIS Jr. served in the 7th U.S. Cavalry from 1888-1891, and was discharged due to wounds at Wounded Knee, SD (12/19/1890). He is buried in New Hope Church cemetery at Gold Dale, VA. The last time I was visiting there, the family home still stood off the Orange Plank Road at Mine Run, VA. William Jefferson DAVIS Jr. married Laura B. SANDERS on June 5, 1892. She died on Jan. 27, 1896 and is buried near him in Gold Dale. Her parents may have been Benjamin SANDERS and Anna HANCOCK.
