Herring's great granddaughter. George was my Grandmother's father. My grandmother was Pearl Norvelle Herring Cajigas. (She was married to Dr. Mariano Cajigas.) I have a newspaper clipping of George's obituary. He was a native of Orange County, though I don't know exactly where he was born. He was, as you said, the son of Franklin Towles and Ammorious Butler Herring. He spent the earlier part of his life in Stafford County where he was in the merchandise business at Widewater from 1898 to 1912. In 1900, he married Pearl N. Norvelle. (Yes, my grandmother was named after her mother. With nine children, I guess they ran out of names.) Anyway, George married Pearl N. Norvelle in 1900. As you said, they had 9 children. "Booker" (and I heard my grandmother refer to him as "Bookie") was actually born with the name Norvelle Franklin Herring. He lived in Woodbridge. And finally, he was laid to rest in Graham Cemetery, Orange. Did you know he was a member of the General Assembly, ran for a Senate seat, served as clerk of the Circuit Court in Stafford County, AND was an organizer of the Bank of Quantico (of which he was president of for 3 years and a member of the board of directors)? Quite the busy bee. Well, if you have any other questions, comments or information you can email me at [email protected] You said your husband's grandfather was George W. Herring. Who was his father?
