We can not find any records earlier than 1785-95 for my ancestors. My g-g-g-grandfather, Creed Taylor, ended up in Montgomery County, VA somehow and married into a prominent family in Christiansburg. One source claims he was an adopted son of Chancellor Creed Taylor of the Cumberland County, VA area and another source claims his ancestors originated in Orange County, VA. Due to the census records of the 1700's we can not authenticate any of these claims. Creed Taylor's son, James Craig Taylor (of the Christiansburg area also) was VA attorney-general after the Civil War (1869-1873 or 4). Is there anyone who can help determine if my g-g-g-grandfather might have had roots in Orange County. Thanks alot-Steve
