    3. Ernie, I will tell you too, if you happen to go there, to the Orange County Courthouse you will find some of the nicest, friendliest people you will likely meet in search of your ancestors. I spent a week there a couple of years back and they couldn't do enough for me. 2. I don't know much at all about the Boston line. We just found the other day proof of Malinda BOSTON being my gggmother , seems strange that she is that close , but my father was 59 when I was born in 1949. A lady in CA has Malindas line back to 1701 so I will look that over for Harris name. I want to try and find Alexander Wrights s/o Joseph mothers name. Ernie

    3. My Taylors are of Culpeper/Madison County. I know it isn't exactly the county but they are so close, and my 4th great grandfather William Peachy CROW who was married to Elizabeth TAYLOR daughter of JOHN TAYLOR and ELIZABETH CRIGLER was born in Essex. My brick wall is John Taylor who was born in 1756 in Culpeper, VA. Maybe there is a link. Sincerely, Erin T. 3. Ernie: My Harris line lived next to the Wright's of Orange Co. for many years and when I recently saw an 1816 Orange Co. Chancery suit subj: John Harris vs. Lewis Walker with surnames within the suit of Boston, Morris, Leathers, Dedmon, Maury. I fairly certain this John Harris is of my line in Orange especially with Lewis Walker being his brother-in-law. I haven't ordered this suit but plan to. Just curious since there is the Boston surname involved in the suit if you know of any Harris people in your Wright/Boston line? 1. Seeking info on Fortune and Wilhoite
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Wilhoite and Fortune Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0AC.2ACE/919 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on two people (okay there may be extra folks I'm looking for): 1. Alexander Fortune who married Dicey Murray (born abt 1825 in Culpeper, Va). They supposedly had 5 kids (according to my family): - Armstead - Willie Ann, - Mary, born abt 1850 - Reuban Bama (I saw a Bama, female born abt 1859, living with Dicey's son, Samuel Wilhoite (see #2 below), on the 1870 census. I wonder if this is the same Bama? Where can I go from here as she seem to have disappeared. - James Fortune, born abt May 1855 2. Souther Wilhoite who, in my family, is said to be Dicey Murray's slave holder. She had 3 sons by Souther named: - Edward (born abt 1838 married Ann Frye born abt 1850). - Samuel (born abt 1843 married Helen Sneed). I found him in 1870 and 1880 census. What baffles me is that the 1880 census lists a half-brother named Edmon Fortune (which I do not have as Dicey's children from Alexander Fortune) born abt 1844. Perhaps this is his first/middle name that I do not have record of? He too is a mystery to me so if you have info on this Edmon Fortune I'd be most grateful. This same 1880 census lists his mother as Dicy Phillips instead of Murray as my family has it. So now I'm stumped with which name is which. Does anyone have any information on this Dicy Phillips (or Murray)? - Lawrence (born abt 1845 married Malinda Gordon born abt 1850). I personally believe that this Souther Wilhoite is the same as Michael Souther Wilhoite born 4 Apr 1819 to Mary Souther and David Wilhoite. Seems that his brother Benjamin Gaar Wilhoit had a bunch of slaves in Culpeper around that time. But I have no proof that he was the holder of Dicey. It only makes sense because my family's history has Dicey's slave owner named "Souther" Wilhoite. But then there were other slave owners in Culpeper: Curtis Wilhoite, Smith Wilhoite, Jane Wilhoite. But none of these seem to have any connection with a "Souther" and they do tend to transfer the wife's last name to one of the kids' first name a lot. Does anyone have more information? Can anyone help me or point me where to go next?
