He was the brother of, or closely related to a James Taylor White living in Orange or Culpeper Counties at that time. William went bond for a Rebecca Chissum along with James Taylor White. 3. Betty, I have Herndons in my data base in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. I doubt that my information is helpful. But my Edward P. Hawkins married Huldah Herndon in Spotsylvania County in 1885. Huldah was a second wife and the couple had no children. I descend from Edward's first wife. Huldah is said to have been the daughter of Alexander and Anne Billingsley Herndon. One of Edward's sons, married a niece of Huldah: Maria Thornton Herndon. But this son, died young of TB. I do not know of children to this couple. As I say, probably none of this is helpful....but I pass it along just in case. Marsha in WV Delta12339@aol.com wrote: >My William J. Proctor b. 1815 Orange Co.,. is my brick wall. He m. Ann H. 2. Hi Wiley, I have one for you-I have a Jerrell as a given name way back in 1848 in Buchanan Co. MO. His surname was Rutledge and he was the s/o William born in TN in 1795. Now it seems his mother was Diantha Eastman Terrell Rutledge and I assumed the given name was a coruption of her previous name but now begin to wonder. The name over the years is written Gerald, Jerald, Jerrell, but the census pas 1860 all show Jerrell. He went to TX by the 1860 census and lived with an Eastman uncle in Austin Co. Anything that could help will be greatly appreciated. Ginny in Wyoming.

I also do some research in Bedford County, Virginia (part of the same research trip) and Lynchburg City is bounded by Bedford County, Campbell County, and Amherst County. Lynchburg has VERY strong Quaker roots. If you haven't already explored the Quaker possibilities for your Wright family, I think that you will want to do that at this point. If you are a novice at Quaker research you are in for a treat as it is lots of fun. Get back with me if you want ideas on how to get started. Marsha in WV PS. what is the other family with which the Wright family has been linked through DNA?
