He had 2 sons Isaiah and Wiley who had a daughter each then one of the daughters had a male and one had a female and they married. These are my grandparents. ha. so I have David's 2 sons as great great grandparents. Here is the info: David Hogan, Giles County, Private, South Carolina Continental Line, $96.00 Annual Allowance, $718.13 Amt. Rec'd.on October 9, 1826 Pension started, age 80, (1935 Rolls) David Hogan age 69 in Jun 1825 with a wife, Rebecca aged 59, and a son Wiley (age 13 as of 27 Mar 1825), applied for his pension in Giles County on 20 Feb 1826, declaring he had served with the South Carolina Line (Re War Pension S38837). He apparently died soon after that he filed a will in 1834 and must have died about that time. He is not on the 1840 Giles County Census and he is not on the 1812 Giles County tax list. He apparently came there about 1818 and stayed until he died. There was a Henry Hogan there earlier but I do not know if he was related to David. Thanks, Just thought it would be a real miracle but maybe it would be the same on. I do not think Isaiah and Wiley had the same mother. I think Rebecca was a second or third wife. Good luck and let me know if you find any connection. Thanks, Marj

I am interested in learning about Spencer Lane born in Orange county 1799-1807, father unknown. I am also interested in learning about William A. Lane of Culpeper who appears on the early censuses of Virginia. I will be moving to Fredericksburg VA this fall, which is only about 40 Miles from Orange and Culpeper, VA. I am planning on spending time trying to find material about the Lanes there. If anyone is researching this family and would like to share information, please contact me at rjmillerjr@erols.com. My e-mail address will change when I move. Spencer Lane went through Tennessee and Kentucky into Illinois where he is buried in Jefferson County. Thanks so much to anyone who can shed some light on this. Spencer Lane could possibly be my gr gr gr grandfather. My gr gr grandfather was Moses Lane born in Kentucky in 1827 and died in Hamilton County IL in 1890. Spencer named a son William and Moses named his first son William A. Lane and my gr grandfather named his first son William Allen Lane, etc. Moses and Spencer lived in close proximity from at least 1850 until their deaths. They both purchased land about 1854 in that area. That is why I am interested in the William A. Lane of Culpeper. William A. Lane's wife may have been in Orange County when Spencer was born, perhaps with relatives. Spencer Lane's family has names that are repeated in my Lane family of the same timeframe, like Aldean/Aldine (girl's name) and Everet (man's name) and others. I have heard my grandfather refer to individuals in that family as cousins. He passed away several years ago and I didn't bother to write anything down which is the ca! se. My mother's name was Aldene and she told me she was named for a favorite cousin. There are many things that link my Moses with Spencer's family. I hope while I am living in retirement in Fredericksburg that I can uncover some information to solve this mystery because right now I cannot move past Moses Lane. I think my Moses may have been a namesake for either Moses Penningnton or Moses Wilson. Just a guess. Lynda Lane Miller
