    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Waugh Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0AC.2ACE/960.1 Message Board Post: I have that the Father of Gorie Waugh was George Lee Waugh born about 1760 and died December 29.1814. Gorie Waugh was married to Elizabeth Boston on March 19, 1793 and she was born abt. 1760 and died 1840. They had a son named Goree Waugh born May 19, 1789 and died February 20, 1872. He married Susannah Wright on September 13, 1813 in Orange. She was born December 25, 1792 and died September 22, 1867. Her parents were William and Rachel "Perry" Wright. Gorie Robert Waugh was born October 12, 1826 in Orange and died July 17, 1906 and is buried at Rhoadesville Baptist Church. Gorie Robert was married first to Jane D. Clark and then his second wife was Ellen Cole on February 28, 1867 in Orange. She was born August 16, 1839 and died October 16, 1916 and is also buried at Rhoadesville Baptist Church. From a book I have it says Gorie Robert Waugh, son of Gorie Waugh and Susan Wright Waugh, was born 1826. He married Jane Clark, daughter of Stokeley Clark. Mrs. Clark died when their five children were young and in 1867 Gorie R. Waugh married Miss Ellen Cole. Their children were Lora Lindsey Waugh, Robert Melzi Waugh, George Monroe Waugh, Charles Clifton Waugh, Wallace Waugh and Cordelia Waugh. Gorie R. Waugh was a veteran of the Civil War veteran, a farmer and carpenter. The beams that support Rhoadesville Baptist Church were hand-hewn by him, and he gave the land and built the first school building in Unionville. A devoutly religious man, he was a Charter Member of Rhoadesville Baptist Church; a man who, in spite of long hours of hard labor each day, determined to read his Bible through each year by taking time after every noon meal for the scriptures. His daughter, Cordelia Waugh Walters said of him that "he wasnever heard to complain or express doubt that all would be well...his faith sustained him...like a rugged oak tree, deeply rooted, sending out branches of faith, hope and love...adorned with sparkling leaves of joy...charity...and assurance of eternal life. The name Gorie has been found to have been spelled Gourie, Gorey Gowrie as well. Hope this is helpful.

    1. Search for Descendants of Phillips Immigrants
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Phillips, Davis, Williams, Bailey, White, Graves, Yates Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0AC.2ACE/961 Message Board Post: To The Orange County Board: My name is Virginia Phillips-Smith, and I am involved in a Phillips DNA project which is located at this link: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/PhillipsWorldwide/. We are attempting to find documented male descendants of all the original male Phillips immigrants to the New World and encourage them to join the Phillips Worldwide DNA project. DNA genealogical studies work very successfully on straight line male descendants, so their DNA is a precious commodity. The DNA test is painless and only involves swabbing the inside of the cheek with a special brush or scraper. The lab mails a kit to the participant and then the participant mails the kit back to the lab. The kit is assigned a number, and the name of the participant is never published, thereby assuring privacy and confidentiality. Also, the lab only looks at certain markers on the male Y-chromosome, so this test does not identify any medical problems or other sensitive information. The DNA test is not free, but the participant gets a break with regard to the cost of the test if he participates in the Phillips Worldwide DNA project. In addition, financial aid may be available if the candidate belongs to an especially representative or large Phillips line and he has excellent documentation. If you are a straight line male Phillips descendant of a Phillips Immigrant, and you are willing to join the DNA project, or if you know someone who is a straight line male descendant of a Phillips Immigrant, please contact me at vapsmith@ntelos.net or Shannon Phillips at PHILLIPSDNAPROJ@AOL.COM. Shannon is the volunteer project administrator for the Phillips Worldwide DNA project. By the way, we are all volunteers and are not being compensated in any way to pursue this project. Thank you for taking the time to read this message and we look forward to hearing from you. I hope and believe this new scientific tool will solve many genealogy puzzles and tear down many brick walls. Sincerely, Virginia Phillips-Smith
