In that record, it states that he was the son of James and Elizabeth Lamb. I have not confirmed that. Ezekiel died ca. 1885. America Lamb, the daughter of Ezekiel and Mary Raines Lamb married Smith George Haney in Greene Co. in 1849. They are my ggggrandparents. I have no further information on my Lamb or Raines lines. Any help with them would be greatly appreciated.

Posted on: Orange Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Orange/10531 Surname: Bell, Brockman, Henderson ------------------------- The Mary Bell who is supposed to have married Samuel Brockman of Orange County, VA (will proved 25 Sept 1766) and who is thought to have been mother of Sarah Brockman (will in Orange Co. 1796)who married John Henderson (will in Orange Co. 1783) MAY be the daughter of Roger Bell (will proved 25 Aug 1774, Orange Co.). This will lists his children as John Bell, William Bell, Joseph Bell, Henry Bell, Thomas Bell, Betty Leek, Mary Brockman, Ursula Bowling, and Ann Linney. Also mentioned are granddaughters Lucy and Frankey Wisdom. Orange Co. VA Will Book 2 p. 478. If anyone can prove or disprove this relationship, I'd like to know. The will doesn't mention Roger's wife, who I suspect predeceased him; if he was Mary's father, he lived to a ripe old age, but it is definitely possible.

Posted on: Orange Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Orange/10525 Surname: Hooker, Bell, Watkins, Hart, Duncan, Dunkin, Whitaker ------------------------- William Watkins b 1805 Tn married 1827 Knox CO, TN, Margaret Byerley/Birley, dau. of Casper Byerley, JR, of SC and wife Mary MOORE b ca 1767 SC. In 1839 Wm. is mentioned in estate papers of a Benj. Watkins that were supposed to be adm. in 1840 by a James M. BELL...but never were. Wm & Margaret had siblings who married each other a year before Wm and Margaret's marriage and moved to Ooltewah, TN, near Chattanooga and the GA border. Samuel Watkins and Lucy Byerley had son John Watkins who was later sheriff of old James CO, TN. Wm. and Margaret had sons Samuel Watkins and Wm. Douglas Watkins b 1843 TN who went to KY to join the Union Army. Samuel died of measles during the War, but W. D. later married Nancy Brown HART b 1852 TN, dau. of George B. HART b ca 1816 TN & wife Ellen Eakins/Aikens/Ekins. Nancy and Wm's son James Preston Watkins married Lillie Ann HOOKER, dau. of John Willis Hooker and Lettice Duncan/Dunkin. John Willis Hooker was son of a NC/MD line and Lettice was dau. of Adeline WHITAKER of NC and Robert Paul DUNCAN b 1815 VA. It appears that an early James Bell had connections to Madison/Orange/Culpeper CO's prior to migration southward, perhaps to TN. I'd love to share my extensive files with anyone interested in any of these surnames.

Posted on: Orange Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Orange/10523 Surname: SMITH, BELL ------------------------- I am writing this from memory so please forgive any mistakes I was in Orange Co., Va 2 years ago looking for my ancestor, Ambrose Smth. In one of the documents that I was reading there was an Ambrose Smith who married (I believe her name was Mary Bell) He was the son of Edward Bell. But, please search this out for yourself as I wouldn't want to tell you something wrong. I will keep your query and in the furture when I am caught up on my projects look this up as I copied all Smith and Bell records from the courthouse there. Also, the fact that Caroline, Culpeper, Spotsylvania and Orange counties are just a few minutes apart and some of them formed from each other I found information about these families in different places (including Frederickburg.) I will keep you in mind. If you want to contact me privately in a few days I will try and look up some of the things that are handy to see what I have. I have Bell-Smith, information and Smith-Coleman information because I am not sure which is mine. But, I will say that I believe after what I have seen that there are many connections with the Coleman, Bell and Smith families in these areas mentioned above. Marsha Smith-Hamilton
