    1. [VAORANGE] CADDLE (CADDEL), LEA, WILLIAMSON, HUDDLESTON, MATHEWS, LAND
    2. Bill Caddell
    3. I am interested in information on the persons as relates to the land transaction mentione below in 1751 and specifically to my gggg grandfather Andrew CADDEL: This is the earliest info on Andrew: 1751 - April 2, Andrew CADDLE witness land transaction, John Tyre of Albermarle County, VA to John Williamson of Spotsylvania County, VA, at £16 current for 100 acres in St George Parish, Spotsylvania County. Witness: Robert Huddleston, William Mathews, Andrew CADDLE, Edward Land. County records, volume 1, page 184. By 1754 he was in Orange Co., NC. 1754 - 30 Jan. Andrew CADDEL did John Lea survey, Orange County, NC. He was listed as a SCC (Sword Chain Carrier) And worked for surveyors Major Lea and William Churton. >From family lore, Andrew (a Scottish Immigrant) came to America at the age of 14 as a stowaway on a ship from Edinburgh, SCT. He was indentured for a period of time. It is said that he was well educated and made a clerk on a HENDERSON plantation, and later married the owner's daughter, Jean HENDERSON in abt 1765. I have documentation of Andrew's grandson, Lewis Green CADDEL, who said his grandmother was a Jean HENDERSON. I also have a deed dated 18 Aug 1768 signed by Andrew CADDEL and Jean CADDEL, where they sold land in Orange Co., NC. In 1754 Orange Co., NC, Andrew was closely associated with the LEA family. Andrew CADDEL and Major LEA did surveys in Orange Co., NC for at least nine years. I have info from a direct descendant of Major LEA. She stated the John listed above was Major's father. John LEA was from England and his son Major LEA was born in Spotsylvania County. It is know that HENDERSONs also lived in Spotsylvania County and vicinity. I also found an earlier record in nearby Stafford Co., VA: 1666 - 29 August, John CADDELL, Stafford County, VA, certificates for land giving headrights, 1st part, 1st order book - to Henry Hudson for 40 persons, including CADDELL. I have no other records on this John CADDELL or any others in Virginia prior to the 1750s, except 1704 - Richard CODELL, rent rolls, 100 acres, Charles City County, VA. Any connections with anyone you have. Any assistance is appreciated. Bill Caddell Granbury, TX

    2. You're welcome. The church gave me a copy of the book at a reunion a couple years ago because my great, great, grand father was a charter member. I'm not sure if they have any remaining. You might try contacting the pastor. Actually, I'm not looking for Faulconers. I'm looking for Clark, Dempsey, and Hughes. My brickwalls are the parents of John James Clark (b-1810); parents of Silas Dempsey (b-1857); and any Hughes from the Orange/Unionville/Rhoadesville area. Thanks, Mike

    2. Thank you for the information on William and Fannie Campbell. Supposedly when my dad was a child (born in 1927), there was a family who lived next to his family's farm that were the Faulkconers and my dad and his brother use to play with the Faulconer children along with the Boston children that also lived on a farm next to theirs. Anyway, Thank You.

    1. [VAORANGE] Re: Faulconer's in Rhoadesville
    2. Hi, There are only three entries in the book that I could find. In Chapter XIII, The Church Roll - 1888-1988, it says: Kube, Fannie, 9-1903, Baptism Campbell, Mrs. Fannie, Roll 1905-1915 Campbell, Willie, Roll 1888-1905 The book explains "Roll" as follows: "Evidently in the time period involved no accurate record was kept of the month/day/year of coming forward to join the church. This has left some persons with only the above notation, which is a verification that the person is listed on an official roll of membership of the Rhoadesville Baptist Church." Regards, Mike Clark

    2. Hi, I'm not related to the Faulconers, but my Dad's family, The Campbell family supposedly had a farm near theirs. The Campbell Family also attended Rhoadsville Baptist Church and my Grandparents are buried there. Their names are William James Campbell and Frances Mae Kube Campbell. Kube being my Grandmothers maiden name. They went by the names Willie and Fannie and that is how the church has them listed as members. I was wondering if in that Church book that you have has any listing on them? If so, could you let me know. Thanks, Mary Gooding
