    2. Hi Listers, Can anyone tell me whether there were Newton's in Northumberland County before 1800. I'm in search of parents, siblings or other relatives of Giles Newton who appears in Caroline County as early as 1755. I plan to visit Virginia soon and would appreciate any advance information to help organize my search. Since Caroline County is a "burned records" county, I can only hope to find a link in some earlier or surrounding area. Please help if you can. David F. 3. Have not heard of Newton's in Northumberland Co., but could be. I was born and raised there. Have relatives still there, and some from N. C. Kirby, Penrice and Elliott. Ever heard of them? Sincerely, Indie Clark Shepp, now living in Pa. ----- Original Message ----- From: <DFN34@aol.com> To: <VANORTHU-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 07, 2002 9:14 AM Subject: [VANORTHU-L] NEWTON'S Pre 1800 > > Hi Listers, > Can anyone tell me whether there were Newton's in Northumberland County > before 1800. 3. You may have more luck looking in Westmoreland County. Capt. John Newton, also known as "Marriner" was born in England about 1640, but came to Virginia and died before July 1697 in Westmoreland County. His descendents are still found here and were very prominent in the county's history.
