Have seen Fleet's Bay mentioned (also Nominy Bay) in connection with George DURANT ( who married in Wicomico church 166? to Ann MARWOOD) If you should run across them (and also WM DURAND of Northumberland , had 800A grant on Rappahannock in Nrhtumblnd, banished by Gov. Berkeley as dissenting church Elder) during your Jones, Payne,Pope and Sanford research, we'd appreciate hearing any bits of info- GEORGE DURANT was a Mariner, b c1632, first came Va c1652. Thank you. Ann
My grandmother, Constance Elder PALMER, was a wonderful picture taker. She has some pictures of her children, which include another young girl, who perhaps was helping take care of them. She looks to have been born around 1900 and would have lived in the Reedville area, or maybe Fleeton. My only surviving aunt, who is 90, has identified this girl as Arabella CLAY or perhaps CRAY. this young lady looks to be about 10 or so in the pictures. She has blonde hair which is tied in a large bow. If anyone would like a copy of these pictures, please let me know. I would love to share them with her family. Suzanne Worthington Palmer Atwood
Fleeton celebrated its' 100th birthday this year, although there were people living there before that. Dr. Emory Lewis put out a history of this place as part of the celebration. I have a copy of that book as well as the Reedville book by Miriam Haynie for the 100th birthday of Reedville. The Fleeton book has many pictures of the area. If anyone wants a look-up in these, let me know. Suzanne Worthington Palmer Atwood
Hi Ann, I'll keep a lookout for the Durants and Marwoods. If I find anything, I'll let you know.
