Children: Daniel, Jr., b: abt 1642, d: bef Oct 1700, m: Elizabeth Holland. Christopher, b: abt 1644, d: abt 1696, m: Hannah Rodham. Robert, b: abt 1648, d: abt 1675. Does anyone on this list know of any source of information about this family? My earliest knowledge of my Neal family is a Benjamin Neale, born in Fauquier County, Virginia in 1760. Don't know where the family was before that. Looking for any leads that might show where and when my family come to America. TIA RJN

    3. In THE HISTORICAL ATLAS OF WESTMORELAND CO, VA, by Eaton I find the following; There is a will , dated 4-1-1752, for John Marshall, which has, at the end of the document; Witnesses Richard Barnes Whart. Ransdell, Danl. Neale (this will is located in Will Book 11, pg 1." " In 1659 Lt. Daniel Neale and his wife Ellen Neale, appear in the records of Northumberland Co, Va. He served as constable, an important office in those days. They had the following children and perhaps others; Christopher, Robert, Charles and Daniel. The Va Neals all descend from Lt. Daniel Neale, an Irish Protestant who was in Northumberland in 1659. Daniel Neale of Cople Parish, Westmoreland Co, Va, , died in 1710, Westmoreland Co. Will probated in 1713; in the latter county, in which he left to his son, Presley, "all the land on which I now live", in Cople parish, Westmoreland co, and desires that all the children "stay with their mother till they be of age, marry or leave with her concent. He married Ursula Presley, dau. of Col WM. PResley, and sister of Capt. Peter PResley, of Northumberland HOuse, NOrthumberland Co. In 1718, Ursula PResley NEale, the Widow of Daniel Neale, appears as the wife of Wharton Ransdell, of Westmoreland Co. Presley NEale, son of Daniel and Ursula, of Fairfax Co, va, died in 1749. HE served as sub-sherrif of Westm. Co, owned estates in Fairvax, Westmorelsnd and NOrthumb. cos. In his will he names his wife Margaret and children Daniel, Elizabeth, Ann,Shapleigh, Richard and JEmima; all of the children were under age, but by the terms of the will daniel, the eldest son, was from that date to be free without waiting until he was of legal age; also daughter Jemima was to be her own mistress at the age of 14. Presley married Margaret? who died (will probate 5-27-1755) believed to be the daughter of Moore and Margaret Moore Faunteleroy, as their daughter married a Mr. Neale. Richard Neale of Wetmoreland. co born 1743, died 1816. He took a prominent and active part in affairs on church and state; served with distinction in the Rev. HE married (1) prior to July 8, 1767, Francis Underwood, of KGC (2) Mary Nelson Smith, widow of Lewis Smith of Fauquier co. His widow married in 1820, Rev. Micajah Fairfield. Presley Neale comes from a long line of Neales in North. and Westm. Cos. On July 21, 1789 he bought from the heirs of the patentee, John Butler, 265 acres of land, and on 9-2-1811, he sold it to the trustees of the Nomini Baptist Church of Christ." As the Neals were in Cople Parish I also looked that up, and it came into existence probably while the territory comprising Westmo. Co was a part of Northumber. It had chosen church wardens by 1655, and a building is thought to have been erected by this time at the site of the present Yeocomico Church, one of the oldest churches in Va....the other church in this parish was Nomini (mentioned in connection with the Neales), so if I were you I"d see if I could find some extant church records for either church...In case they would be listed as minister's records, a John Rozier was minister at Nomini early on, and had patented land there in 1653. Rev. John Waugh was the minister as early as 1674 and was succeeded by Rev. John Scrimgeour and served till 1693...Samuel Grey served till1708.....
