Anyone researching the HURST family of Northumberland/Lancaster Co. Virginia? I am looking for information on SALLY ____ HURST who was the THIRD wife of John Ledford bn. circa 1771 - 1779 and died after 1830. SALLY ____ HURST was a WIDOW when she was married to John Ledford on 24 Aug. 1816. The HURST name would therefore be her prior deceased husband's family name. Again this is probably Northumberland/Lancaster/ Middlesex Counties of Virginia. I am especially interested in issue of that marriage. Hi Jim: The only time I've seen the HURST surname was a farmer who appears to have taken in one of my great-grandfathers. If memory serves me correctly, it was James HURST and he took in George PITMAN. Probably Northumberland or Lancaster Co, VA. I'm thinking timeframe would have been late 1700s or early 1800s. Sorry I cannot be more specific and my research is on the back burner right now -- I'm just going from memory (sketchy at best)! Wish I could help more, but wanted you to know the HURST surname was familiar to me! If I remember -- James HURST and my PITMAN ancestor showed up in one of the early censuses.
