    3. Sorry about that. Would someone please be willing to do a lookup in the book mentioned below for JOHN TURNER, EDWARD TURNER and/or PETER TURNER? 3. There is one Turner in Bk 1 - John Turner. The first date is July 22 1699 when he acts as executor to Jerome Jadroyn. 8/18: Judgmet granted to him unless Jeremiah Jadroyn and Sam Warcupp appear in court (for 411 lbs of tobacco) 6/1704: a suit by John Laurence dismd against Turner 2/1702: Richard Hull had sued Turner and since Hull did not appear at the hearing the case was dismissed against Turner. 5/1705: Turner is appointed Constable for Cupits Neck presenct and is ordered to be sworn in. 5/1705: Turner sits on a grand jury for several cases. Most are against people for not going to church and one against a woman for having a bastard child (BTW, my ancestor is one of the ones that didn't go to church) 6/1705: Richard Hull sues Turner for Hogg steeling. (I guess we both have skeletons in our closets -- heathens and thieves -- just kidding) 8/1705: Uh oh - the sheriffs takes him into custody on the above charge. 3/1705/6: Turner acts as trustee in a gift of deed held on behalf forb Mary Mandly. Donee is Edmund Mandly. Mo more. BTW: I briefly read an article where the colonials would use lawsuit as security interest. If someone owed them money (i.e. tobacco), they would bring a lawsuit and let is stand until paid. When it came to the date of trial and they were paid, they would not show up and the case would be dismissed. That it why they seemed so litigious.
