I believe that there was a Rev Jett at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Reedville in Northumberland County. It has been a while since I was there, but I think there is a plaque on the wall with his name. Steve Jett
The current church is an addition to the original that was there when I was a child. I think the original was built back in 1800's for sure, as it was old in the late 1930's. The new addition is lovely. I'm sure you can get the dates by sending a letter to the church. I have pictures of Starke Jett at Hopewell United Methodist Church, Farnham, VA. I have never heard of anyone who actually knew him. One contact at the church is Mrs. James R. Hinton, bookkeeper. I do not have a Northern Neck phone book, but you could call 411. Their road is now named Lara Ridge Road, and I am not sure of the current post office, since it is on the edge of Lancaster, Northumberland, and Richmond Co. Hopewell has been on a circuit of 3 churches for years: Calvery United Methodist, Oakland United Methodist, and Hopewell. Does anyone have a list of Death Records in Northumberland County for 1874. I have just learned that Joseph T. ARTIS died January 25, 1874. He had married my g-g-grandmother Isabell BROMLEY LEWIS two plus months before that on November 9, 1873. I'd like to know the cause of his death and whether Isabell Artis (b. 1848) or Ada Lewis (b. 1866) are listed as dying near that time. Also, does anyone know the name of the church that Rev. Starke Jett served? He performed the marriage ceremony of Joseph Artis and Isabell Lewis in 1873. Thanks for any help. Sally Andrews Gudas

Washington F. THRIFT married Fenton Taylor KING in 1866. Robert H. THRIFT married Mary Jane KING in 1869. Mary Jane and Fenton were sisters. Their parents were Joseph H. KING and Jane LEWIS DAWSON. Washington (Watt) and Robert were brothers. Their parents were Richard T. THRIFT and Alice Ann LEWIS. The families lived in Richmond/Northumberland Counties. Looking for connections to either family line. Thanks, Sue
I am a little mix up about the name of district and county. I am researching the Sunnybank area. Was Bridge Neck the same area as Sunnybank. Also there was a area called Ophelia, Cockrell Neck. Were all these areas all in the Fairfield area. Also were district called by the name of their postoffices? Are there any map online that I could look at to get a ideal of these different areas? Sandy Davenport,Cockrell,Sutton,Bean(e),Harcum,Kent,Williams-VA
Sandy, Thanks for the response. I too spend many summers in Reedville, and know Sunnybank well. If I remember correctly there was a Sunnybank ferry, built I believe at the Rice Marine Railway in Fairport, by my uncle Emory Rice (Sr.) Some great memories.
