Susan - I have a Mary A. Rock married to Richard C. Vanlandingham on 12 Dec. 1846 in NOCO, according to Nottingham's book. She is in the Butler side of our family and I had her birthdate in 1832. According to the census she would have been 11 when she married Richard, BUT, the first child Sineca, was not born untio 1850 and she would have been 15 - ummmmhhhhh maybe? What do you think? Henry. Oh, Betsy said, "do you have any e-mail address on Duvall grads?" Dorothy, I really cannot help you with Rebecca Crute/Cruit. I looked in our Boggess books and found only the following: We had noted Rebecca having witnessed a will of Mary Bogges 10 March 1742/3. When Rebecca Crute died 17 November 1756, Giles Samford Boggess was a witness to her will. 14 May 1753 Giles Sanford Boggess orphan of Bennett Boggess was bound to Richard Crute. James Blinco and Samuel Eskridge was also mentioned. Notation of a will of John Blincoe being witnessed by Henry Boggess, 24 January 1782, John Blincoe was the son (?) of Rebecca Crute. Gayle
Susan, Not an answer to your question, but you will find that Andrew J. Rock is the enumerator for the 1870 census of Northumberland County. I have been following all of your correspondence for quite some time and wish to tell you that you are doing a wonderful job. My ancestors, the Purcell/Pursell family are connected at times to the Thrift family. William Thomas Purcell, Jr.
Taken from the 1850 Census for Northumberland County, Virginia: Wesley ROCK 40 Ann ROCK 35 Mary ROCK 15 female ROCK 10 I can't read the name William ROCK 5 John ROCK John OLIVER Can anyone relate to these folks? Ann was a THRIFT, daughter of John THRIFT & Sallie WHITE. Thanks, Sue
Charles and Gayle Boggess, I am researching my CRUTE heritage. In Northumberland Co, VA the Boggess family and the Crute name are linked by witnessing wills and while I've never been able to link the two families I keep wondering if there is a connection. Richard Crute married the young widow Rebecca Blincoe, widow of John Blinco/Blincoe. We have never been able to determine Rebecca's maiden name. Is it possible you have info that would shed light on these connections? Would appreciate any comments you might have. Thank you Trudie, I've found the website for the College and written to the Librarian requesting information about their genealogical resources. And, a big thank you to all who have generously responded to those of us requesting "visiting" information. Our Boggess Family Reunion is looking forward to our trip to the County. Gayle

There is very nice Best Western in Warsaw and a Days Inn in Tappahannock. Best Western closer to Historical Society and about a mile away from Richmond County Courth House. You'll enjoy it. H.
Hi everyone, I need a look up in the North'land Co. His. Bulletin Vol VII No. 1 from 1970. That bulletin has the funerals & burials from the journal of Rev. Charles Betts. Is Larua F. Payne listed? Is anyone looking for her? Her children were Gertrude, Addie Elizabeth, Herman, Walker & Maude, born in the 1880's. Who was her husband? Thank you! Mary
