Hi gang, I called the City of Norfolk today, chancery division... I asked this question: "Can you tell me if you house guardianship records and from what years to what years?" The guy who answered the phone said, "I don't know, cause I wasn't around back then".. I swear that is what he said to me...... (Oddly enough gang, I called last year and he is the same person who said the very same thing to me then, when I asked this same question!) I was so mad... His name is Joe Rabino. I plan to call the Attorney General's Office tomorrow and let them know what this guy said to me. He was hateful to me when he said this and smart elick too... Guardianship records are totally necessary for us to have in doing genealogy! When a father died, even when there was a mother left to raise the children..the courts legally appointed a "guardian for what they determined back then to be Orphans"...(any child without a father in the 1800's was legally an orphan)... Ask me if I am ticked off? Sooo, if you have this information about Norfolk and for Chesapeake, please email me...thanks guys Susan in VA --------------------------------------------------------------- THE PAST EXPLAINS THE PRESENT JENKINS/DAVIS/GAYLE/SMITH/MURRAY/ GODWIN/PARKER/WHITEHEAD/FRAZIER/CURRIN --------------------------------------------------------------- ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
