    3. Hi Susan; I assume that pictures in newspapers can be used, but I could be wrong. :) Maybe some of our members have had experience with that, and could help us out here. And the books, gee those pictures sound so great, and I would really love to have them; but I guess it depends on when the books were written, as to whether the copyright law would be in effect. The safest way would probably be to write to the publisher of the books, the address should be on the book somewhere, and get their 'permission' first.... If the pictures were of early Portsmouth, then maybe the people who put them in the book got them from somewhere, like an Archives and under public domain?????
