Recently, I found some people in Oakgrove Cemetery in Portsmouth, VA. that I do not know their relationship to my family. What I know is: William J. Codd, Sr., b. ca1850 in MD, d. 11 Feb 1911 in Portsmouth, VA. His son was William J. Codd, Jr., b. 1878 in Portsmouth, Va., d. 10 Jan 1939 in Portsmouth, VA., m. 6 Jun 1905 to Annie Lee Anderton, b. 21 Mar 1879 in Portsmouth, VA, d.25 May 1971 in Portsmouth, VA. My interest is in Annie Lee Anderton. Her father, Edward S. Anderton was the brother of my Grandmother, John Anne Anderton. What I found was Tombstones and are listed as follows: William J. Codd - no dates - main stone Sarah R Codd - 1912 - 1984 Julia Codd - 1886 - 1972 Maiden name "Green" J.Leon Codd - 1872 - 1952 Sarah Rebecca Codd - no date on stone - GENWEB dates listed b. ca1855 - d. 1941 William J. Codd - no date on stone - Woodmen of the World seal on stone - GENWEB dates listed b.ca1850. d. 1939. William J. Codd, Jr. no date on stone - GENWEB dates listed b. 1878, d. 1939. Annye Lee Codd - no date on stone GENWEB dates listed b.1879, d. 1971 - I believe this to be Annie Lee Codd mentioned above in "What I Know". Middleton L. Hunt - no date on stone - GENWEB dates listed b. 1869, d. 1943. Emma G. Worsham - 1878 - 1957. GENWEB listed Williamsburg as place of death. Marjorie V. Codd - no stone - GENWEB dates listed - b. 1908, d. 7 Jun 1988. Note GENWEB dates listed here are year only. Much too lazy to do it right. Also, I have listed the stones I know for whom they belong. All stones are found in plot H837 and adjacent plot H835 My question is "Does Anyone Know who these people Are"? Charlie

Good morning to all, In response to this discusion I have received...privately....the following comments: ------------------------- www.virginianpilot.com i think it was yesterday or sunday's paper, they are so excited about the lightrail that they haven't even given the library a thought................. not kidding.................... (I've been wondering about the macarthur memorial which shares the same property and st. paul's church) later, k -------------------------- and..............another comment: ---------------------------- There was an editorial in yesterday's Virginian-Pilot that suggested using the old "Navy YMCA" once the Union Mission moves out. I think that is an excellent idea, utilizing a beautiful old building that is pretty big and should give them plenty of space. Oscar Gilbert ---------------------------- Hopefully.....between the link to the additional public information from Kristina, as well as Oscar's information....that this insamity will sort itself out before this all gets too far. I'm way cross the country from VA, in WA state, so there's not much I can do ....with the exception of writing letters. If one were to write letters of concern...who would they be addressed to, and what's there email address?? Please post this to the list.........so that we can all know.
