    1. [VANORFOL] Mauk Family
    2. This is so weird. About 2 weeks ago I was researching the PA Mauk family even though I am not related to them. I know that Carole Mauk McGill recently moved into a retirement home in Baltimore. I think I can get in touch with her or her children. Eleanor Brundick ebtalbott@zoominternet.net

    1. [VANORFOL] MAUK Family Photograph Album
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph album which appears to have belonged to the MAUK Family of Pennsylvania and Nebraska. The album include photographs of David T. MAUK, Anna MAUK, and Mrs. MAUK (who I believe is Amanda MAUK) along with a photograph identified as Jerry Raymond LEVINE and an additional 42 photographs which are not identified. The album includes photographs from Altoona, PA; Omaha, NE; Shenandoah, VA; Hagerstown, MD; Minneapolis, MN; Norfolk, VA; and Motala ? which may be in Sweden. The photographs were taken from the 1870's to the 1900's and include infants, children, women, men, and couples in addition to a farm house. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: David T. MAUK or MOCK was b. Nov 1855 in Blair, PA to parents Peter MAUK or MOCK (b. 1826) and Margaret CLAYBALL (1827-1870). David was one of 7 children born to this couple including, John; Adam; Frederick K.; David T.; Calvin; Albert G.; and Sarah MAUK or MOCK, all born between 1848 and 1863. David died in 1907 and is buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha, NE. Amanda MAUK was b. 1859 and died in 1934 and is buried along with her husband in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha. Anna MAUK was b. 1888 and died 1933 and is also buried with her parents in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha. In addition to Anna the couple also had a son, Benjamin Franklin MAUK (b. 11 Jul 1892 in Nebraska-d. 1950 in Portland, OR) who married Ethel Lora MARSHALL (1892-1964). Census records provide the following details: 1860 census of Greenfield, PA: Peter MAUK, age 34, a Farmer, born PA Margaret MAUK, age 33, born PA John MAUK, age 12, born PA Adam MAUK, age 10, born PA Fred MAUK, age 7, born PA David MAUK, age 5, born PA Calvin MAUK, age 2, born PA + 1 Farm Laborer 1900 census of Omaha, NE: David T. MAUK, age 44, born Nov 1855, married 15 years, born PA, parents born PA, a Machinist Amanda MAUK, wife, age 42, born Nov 1857, married 15 years, 3 children/2 living, born Sweden, parents born Sweden Anna MAUK, dau, age 13, born Jan 1887, born NE, at School Benjamin MAUK, son, age 7, born Jul 1892, born NE, at School 1910 census of Omaha, NE: Mrs. Amanda MAUK, age 50, a widow, 3 children/2 living, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, to USA 1880 Anna MAUK, dau, age 22, born NE, parents born PA/Sweden, a Newspaper Type Setter Benjamin F. MAUK, son, age 17, born NE, parents born PA/Sweden, an Apprentice Blacksmith 1920 census of Omaha, NE: Amanda MAUK, age 60, a widow, born Sweden, parents born Sweden Anna MAUK, dau, age 30, born NE, parents born PA/Sweden, a Stenographer 1930 census of Omaha, NE: Anna M. MAUK, age 40, born NE, parents born PA/Sweden, a Newspaper Office Clerk Amanda MAUK, mother, age 65, a widow, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, to USA 1882 I am hoping to locate someone from this MAUK Family so that the photograph album can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please call me. Thanks, Shelley

And i am hoping he will still do the marriage licenses, as i have an evolution of marriages in each book for that decade with 1890-1899 having the entire set of examples showing the evolution of the marriage record from ministers return to marriage bond to the first license to the current license form for 1898. so we shall see, there are two publishers, maybe i can get a nice deal, but from what they say, it's probably going to be a nickle or dime per book sold depending on what the final edition holds. I hope to be there in the afternoon as i have a DAR TOMBSTOME presentation in the morning and being historian i have to take pictures. 1. [VANORFOL] SEPT 2013 UPDATE
    2. KRISTINA DELUISE
    3. HI, ALL   It's been a busy week, a Dar, mtg, a midnight madness at the library- genealogy session, I found 2 War of 1812 ancestors for myself, YAHOO!!!!   OK, OK, I have completed City of Norfolk marriage books 1-5, YEAH.......   Editing the 4 Norfolk Virginian (2 obits & 2 marriage index books) hope to have them finished by Nov.   Had several people email me this week with " i saw your offer on roots web, one from 2002,2004, 2006 yikes...." a couple of people requested stuff from my website http://www.nyvagenealogy.homestead.com/ that i posted probably in 02 or 03, so it took me a while to figure out what they were talking about, LOL,   AND  while i am editing these newspaper books, i'm postiing stuff to the site, that  i told myself i would get to at a later date.............. and if i don't do it now, it will probably never get done,   so from the norfolk virginian 1878, dec, I posted several pages of local business biographies, that were in the paper THE BUSINESS'S PROFILED ARE: VAUGHAN,BARNES & CO C.W.
