    3. Hi! While "playing" more with the indexes to records at beta.familysearch.org, I stumbled across a Vanaernam line that appears to have been much larger than I thought it might be. I was wondering if anyone had additional information on the family of John Vanaernam (etc.) and Elizabeth Winne (ca. 1792/8 NY - 18??) I have 4 children for them to date: Sally b. 1816 [Guilderland?]NY Evert Henry b. 1818 [Guilderland?]NY Kate b. c1830 NY Abraham b. c1838 Albany County, NY I haven't found the family in many census returns, although Elizabeth and her son Abraham / Abram are in Leon, Waushara, Wisconsin in 1860 and Shelby, Blue Earth, Minnesota in 1880. Abram is also in Shelby in 1870 with his new wife Jane, but I can't spot Elizabeth. Abram's sister Kate Quandt, a widow, was with Abram's family in Shelby in 1900. Abram was still in the same town in 1910, and died there 28 April 1912. Abram married Jane Gourley and had 7 children, 6 of them who can be identified through the census returns. Judging by the gaps in the birthdates of John & Elizabeth's children, I am likely still missing many of them - does anyone have a better list of their children? Does anyone have proof of John Vanaernam's parentage? The best bet is Evert & Helena "Lena" (Vrooman) Vanaernam, but I can't prove the connection.... Thanks, Stephen

    3. Hi! Thank you Linda for all your hard work - I can't believe you had so much information on the family - especially finding that 1850 census return! While searching for Evert's child Francis on Find a Grave (who is listed there as a son by the way), I spotted the record for old John himself, who is listed as follows: John V. Van Aernam, died Oct. 21, 1849, aged 62 years, 7 months, and 4 days. Interred in the Vernon Center Cemetery, Vernon, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. This ties in very nicely with Evert's son's name and date of birth so I'm now convinced we have tied up another loose end of mine. It would also appear that the John Van Arnam in the 1830 census of Guilderland, Albany County, NY is likely this family of John & Elizabeth (Winne), with son Evert Henry not at home when the enumeration took place and one other daughter born ca. 1821/25 whose name we don't yet know. The John "W" Vanorman 1840 census entry in Farmington, Ontario County, NY fits this family perfectly, if you include the one unknown daughter born ca. 1821/25. However, it is also still a good fit for the John Van Aman/Araen?? entry in Pittstown, Rensselaer County, NY, so I'm not completely sure about this one... especially since John & Elizabeth's son Abraham was born in Albany County about 1838, so we can locate them up to that point at least. Well done! 3. Stephen, I just emailed pension information for Jacob Vanaernam - he definitely fits into this family.
