    3. Since there's some activity on this family I thought I'd send along some correspondence from Sara Steele at Cottage Grove Area Historical Society. Many thanks to her for her help in sorting out this family. Kenneth Jansen must have shared his research with the historical society. The 1870 census for son John who is not listed as a son in the first section below shows son Sidney age 15 in John's household. So it appears Kenneth Jansen is right about Sidney. He married Phylinda Wait November 12, 1854 in Dane County, Wisconsin. She was born March 26, 1837 in Waitsfield, Washington, Vermont, and died May 09, 1925 in Waukegan, Lake County , IL. Children of John VanArnam and Phylinda Wait are: 21 i. Sydney W.3 VanArnam, born 1855; died Unknown. He married ? September 25, 1881 in Dane County, Wisconsin.
