I have been working on children of Abraham Van Norman & Charity Cummins. I hope this is useful. Ray W. Raymond Cummins, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Note in the censuses of 1852 & 1871 that Abraham Van Norman was described as a plasterer and a mason but not as a shoemaker. I do not know where the writers in the Massachusetts Encyclopedia derived the notion that Abraham Van Norman had been a shoe maker. Note as well that Charity and Abraham followed the religion of her father namely New Connexion Methodist rather than Wesleyan Methodist which had been followed by some other Van Norman families viz. Isaac & Catharine VN. Ray Summary Hannah Everitt Van Norman was born 25 March 1833 at Hannahsville in Nelson Township, Halton County, Upper Canada. She married a cousin named Johnson Van Norman on 12 Jan 1853. The wedding probably occurred in Dereham Township near Tilsonburg in Oxford County because that is where she and her parents and her fiance lived at the time. She and her parents had been enumerated in South Norwich Township, Oxford County, Canada West in the 1852 census of Canada. Hannah & Johnson lived in South Norwich Township near Tilsonburg and they had at least 6 children. After Johnson died in 1874 aged 48 years, Hannah and her dependent children moved into the Town of Tilsonburg. Hannah was apparently named after her maternal aunt, Hannah Cummins (1789-1854), who had married Abner Everitt on 6 Sep 1803 in Flamborough West Township, then in the West Riding of York County, Upper Canada.
