Hi, I was just wondering if this was if this was written by one of your Darke County Vances. <<At the Greenville public library there is a book done by Michael Vance of Arcanum, Ohio in 1993. It is the index only of the Civil War soldiers and/or their widows still living in Darke Co. in 1890. It lists the the person's name and the town and/or township in Darke Co. where the person was living in 1890.>> (From the Darke County, Ohio List) Do you know if your Vance line came to Ohio from Frederick/Jefferson County, Virginia. My 4th g grandfather, Walter W. French, came to Darke County from that area. His grandmother was Hester Vance and his Great Grandfather was James Vance, both from Frederick/Jefferson County VA area.
