Bill, My ancestery line is the same as yours. I believe, I am a descendant of Andrew Vance/Jane Hoge. I know that I am descended from his son Major William Vance. Proof that William is the son of Andrew is a problem. However, I have a photocopy of William Balbirnie's book, "AN ACCOUNT HISTORICAL & GENEALOGICAL FROM THE EARLIEST DAYS TILL THE PRESENT TIME OF THE FAMILY OF VANCE" dated 1854. 41 pages. This book deals mainly with the family in Ireland, Scotland, England and France. I have never read it, I've only checked for connections to my line. I also have a photocopy of a book by Marjorie Loomis Cherry, the title is "THE FAMILY OF ANDREW VANCE". This book has John VANCE 1712-1760 married Elizabeth__________? Hannah born 1735 married Col. William Crawford. It also lists the siblings of Hannah. John Jr. b. 1730, Elizabeth b. 1733, Alexander b. 1737, Andrew b. 1739. It lists the spouses of the siblings. This book is 330 pages plus.
