Some very nice people on the TN mailing list gave me some pointers on using GenConnect today. I was worried because I noticed that some of the queries were missing for the GenConnect Query page. They have only been archived and are still out there. You can click on "Search/Personalize Your Display" and tell it how many of the county messages you'd like to see. BUT I learned something else really neat you can do with GenConnect. Go to the GenConnect query board. At the top in very small print it says "Global Search". Click on this. You can enter a surname.........be sure in the place for country that you put "United States". It may return a message that tells you that there are too many and then asks you to narrow down your search. It then gives you a choice of what state you want for the next search or will even search Family Associations, etc. When the search returns it is in alphabetical order according to counties in that state. This is great! I've already found several new "cousins" today plus my husband's greatgrandfather's two long lost brothers who came to this country from Germany with him ca 1875! Be careful.......it's VERY addictive! Vicki
