Pat Kennedy here; In the records of Samuel VANCE (1726-1789) Surry Co, NC md: Alice (possible Alice Carr/Kerr/Karr) In the family line for generation after generation, Vance, Endsley, Lowry etc etc.........the name of Aley, Aley, Ailey, Allie, or Alley Carr, Allie Carr, etc etc...is used over and over in the naming of females in the families. ============================================= I came across a record: Elizabeth VANCE b: ca 1735 Isle of Wright county, VA d: dec 1778 Washington or Russell Co, VA. She is the dau: Ephraim VANCE. She md: ------unknown ALLEY. She md: Joseph Hatfield Sr 1760. ======= pak: One would then think if she were born in the year of 1735 and md: second in 1760 to Joseph Hatfield. She most likely had her children by ------unknown Alley. Could this be where the name Allie/Aly/Alley/etc....comes from?? ============================================== Never thinking of the name of Alley, being a surname. I now find it on many of the genealogy sites as a surname. Would any of you researching this line......have any records to make a ALLEY connection to the VANCE.....CARR/KERR/KARR......ENDSLEY......LAWRY....lines. Please let me know if you find any info....
