In 1847, they were living in the west of the Town of Groton, Caledonia County, VT, USA, then moved to Chicago circa 1858. The farm in Groton, VT, was 300 acres of the old Heath farm, adjacent to the farm of David Vance, leading to suspicion that Mary Vance was a relative of the Vances of Groton, VT, although David's family is believed to have been in America for two generations before the arrival from Scotland of Mary Vance / James McGen circa 1844. Where did the Vances of Groton, VT, originate ...Ulster and/or Scotland? Any county info for Ulster or Scotland? Wayne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
