Baird is an odd middle name. I'm a descendant from Vances that settled in New York from Ireland and then later in MI. My 5th Grt Grandfather, James Vance, married Martha. We think that Martha's last name was Baird but have not been able to prove it. The Baird Tavern was located in NY near many of my Vance ancestors residents. There was also a Moses Vance, born 1777, that is listed on an 1850 cenus in NY. James Vance's father was named Samuel Vance (6th grt Grandfather).
