Do you have the parents of your Alexander Vance...or his siblings? My Marcena (Marcella) Vance was born about 1827 in what is now WV, the daughter of a river boat captain. It is said they also lived for a while in OH before moving on to IL. In 1846 she married widower Alexander Reeves in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. She was 18 and he was 54 yrs old. I know nothing more of Marcena's birth family other than she had an aunt with long red hair named Polly and her father, a river boat captain on the Ohio River, had a fair complexion. Carole in Oregon
