A Thomas Vance is found in Smith Co., TN census in 1820; Nearby is a John Vance.. Are they brothers... ??? Also a Thomas Vance is found in Rutherford Co., TN in 1830 census .. He came to TN abt 1800 with a broher John. In 1832 Thomas died leaving a 50 acre grant to John Vance. Some say Thomas never married, but census records would support a family left behind.
