WB#1, p. 8. >> Did you get this information from Vida Velton Vance's book? My John Vance was supposed to be the son of Alexander Vance. Alexander left VA and moved to Fayette Co., PA around 1769 One of his sons, my ancestor, was born around 1746 and was living in Pendleton County, VA (now WV) by 1780 when his son Robert was born. John died 8 Feb. 1827 and his buried in the Harman Hills of Pendleton County, WV. In her pension application his wife Nancy states that was married to John by Col. Wm. Crawford, magistrate of the county for which she resided about 40 miles from Fort Pitt in October 1773. I have not gone to personally check all of the papers in John's pension file. Mary Harter, who was a noted researcher in WV, thought that possibly there were papers of two John Vances in the same pension files. Comments????
