Thomas's mother (or Rachel's Grandmother) was Jannett VANCE; thus, the middle name VANCE. Also, VANCE was a prominent name in Hancock Co., and Champaign Co., OH early. A Joseph Colville VANCE became governor of OH in 1836. I am tracing WILSON's in Hancock Co. and I'm noticing many VANCE's along the way. They may have traveled from VA, PA, KY, OH together.
