This may not be of any help but I also have a Vance link from VA/WV. My link is as follows: Alexander Vance - Born 14 Mar 1814 in the Shenandoah Valley Virginia Married Susan Sloane on 14 Mar 1839. She was born on 10 Aug 1820 in Sullivan Indiana. They both died in Wisconsin. They had three children that we know of: John Mary and Mills. All of this information came from birth, marriage, death and Census records. According to my father, He found two possible families in the Shenandoah Valley area that had Male Children about the right age.
