I sure hope someone can help me. I am looking for the Vance family and I think they are from around Washington County Tennessee. I am afraid I do not have very much information except Mary Elizabeth Vance was born in or around Washington TN on February 1856 and her parents wer James Vance and Phebe Johnson. It is said that she also went by the name of Lizzie and they were American Indian. She married Joseph Dove either in TN or KY. Together they had at least 3 children Morning Dove (Martha J. Dove) born Oct. 30, 1872, George A. Dove, born November 1875, and Lillie Dove born about 1880. from what I can gather, Joseph probably died around 1880 at which time Mary moved herself and her children to Fayette County Indiana. Joseph was not listed in any record after 1880. From Fayette County Indian Mary moved atleast 2 of her children (Morning Dove and George) to Rush county Indiana. Mary married at least 2 more times to a man name Pernell and then to a Daniel Miller. I believe she died in Wayne County Indiana, but can find no record. It seems that all 3 of Mary's husbands were quite a bit older than she was. Can someone help me on this Vance or Dove line in Tennessee? Thank you so much! Darlene
