I just made a big breakthrough! I found my Marcena (Marcennia) Vance as the daughter of James Vance and Barbara Miller and I am hoping that there are others out there working on this same line. Marcena was born in what is now WV in about 1828 and at some time around 1840 the family moved to OH and then on to IL in the early 1840s. In 1846 she married widower Alexander Reeves of "McKinnie's Settlement", abt 4 miles NW of Springfield in Sangamon Co., IL. Her siblings were: Michael, Susan, James, Agnes, William, Polly, Elizabeth, Nancy, Isaac, George W. and Thomas Jefferson Vance. Thomas J. Vance and his wife Emily Laswell, moved with his brother George "Washington" Vance and some of her married sisters to Osage Twp, Labette Co., KS in the late 1860s.
