Birth Record 1860-1878<< I was surprised to see that there were birth records kept in Sangamon Co., as early as 1860 so I am really excited to think that one of our big family mysteries may be solvable. Marcena Vance Reeves' husband Alexander died in Gardner Twp., Sangamon Co., in Aug. 1862. The big mystery is who might be the father of the three girls who were born to Marcena after his death. She sold their farm in Gardner Twp in Oct 1865 and she was in Fancy Creek Twp in the 1870 census. Lorena Reeves was born on 21 Apr 1866. Susannah/Susan was born in about 1869 Daisy was born in about 1871 I haven't found any marriage record after 1862 for Marcena under Vance or Reeves and she and the girls were using the Reeves name when they moved to Portland, OR in the mid 1870s with Abraham, the last of 9 children sired by her husband Alexander.
