It is said that my 2nd gr-grandma may be the daughter of James Vance, son of Abner Vance and Susannah Howard. I am looking for proof of this and I hope that one of you might have a key piece of information that will confirm it. Marcena Vance was born in what is now WV in about 1828, her family moved to OH for a while and then they moved on to IL where she married in 1846 at the age of 18 to Alexander Reeves of Sangamon Co. I have seen where a Marcennia Vance, daughter of James Vance and Barbara Miller, had a brother Thomas J. Vance among many others. My Marcena was assisted after the death of her husband by a Thomas J. Vance. I believe that this Thomas later lived and died in Labette Co., KS with his wife Emily Lasswell. I need some proof that my Marcena is James and Barbara's daughter. Does anyone out there have info on what became of James? Thanks, Carole
