Does anyone happen to know why brothers James and Abner Vance, Jr. happened to go to Monroe Co., VA in the early 1820s to get married when there were plenty of girls in Cabell Co. (now Logan Co.), VA to marry? James Vance married Barbara E. Miller on 20 Nov 1820 in Monroe Co., VA. Abner Vance, Jr. married Jane Perry there sometime about 1823 and probably earlier. What took them so far from home? Somewhere I had run across a surveyor by the name of Miller in early Cabell Co. Records. Could he have been one of Barbara Miller's relatives? Thanks, Carole
