My husband is a descendant of his daughter Flora Wardlaw Martin. She died in 1910. I found her grave and her husband's grave. They are buried in Scott twp., Brown Co., Ohio. I have searched for James Geren Wardlaw/Wardlow and his wife's but I have not found them. Flora had a baby Jan 1910 and it states it was buried in the Wardlow cemetery. In Scott twp., there is a Wardlow cemetery with a monument probably 15 feet high. It is for Henry Wardlow. There was several other tombstones but none for James Geren Wardlow/Wardlaw. Can someone point me in the right direction. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Your ancestor may or may not be in the edition you are looking at. Doing a google search, it appears that the home is still in existance. Write or call them. They would be, more than likely, the most complete source of information. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My grandfather: Samuel Vance Born 11/7/1900 Died 11/5/1961 Arrived in the US from Belfast, Ireland around 1921. He had two sisters (Lucille and ???) and one brother (Edwin). One sister (don't know name) stayed in Ireland. The other sister Lucille (Vance) Williams came to Baltimore from Ireland around the same time (~1921) and had four children - Jimmy, Sam, Billy, and Betty (Elizabeth) Vance Bein. His brother Edwin (or Edward, not sure) married a Madeline and had a son who hung himself (maybe named Ed also), a daughter Virginia, and another son Vernon (???). Samuel originally emigrated to Philadelphia but settled in Baltimore. Samuel's mother (I don't know this name yet) died in childbirth with Edwin, the youngest. Samuel's father came here and went back to Ireland rather quickly. Don't know his name yet either. Samuel's wife (my grandmother) was Catherine O'Neill Vance Born April 23, 1907 Died August 1978 Her father was Owen O'Neill and mother Katherine O'Neill. Owen and Katherine had five other children: Bertha Salter, Mildred Carroll Hecker (aka "Mamie"), Mary, Grace and Jim O'Neill. Samuel and Catherine had two children, Edward Vance and Mildred (Vance) Guiliano. Edward (deceased) and Mildred resided in New Jersey. Would love to find people who have more information on this family.... Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have found an LDS entry for a Rebecca Vance born in 1843 in Van Buren Twp., Darke County, Ohio to Michael and Rebecca Vance. I believe this to be my Rebecca as she was born in Ohio on March 23, 1843. I found an entry on the 1850 US federal census showing Rebecca Vance in Van Buren Twp., Darke County, Ohio listed with the family of Joseph B. and Maria Ann Best. Included in the Best family entry is Rebecca Best (age 61, born North Carolina). In the 1860 US federal census for Jefferson Twp., Maries County, Missouri, Rebecca Vance is listed as being a domestic for Rebecca Best (age 71, born North Carolina). On May 16, 1861, Rebecca Vance married John R. Brown in Maries County, Missouri. Rebecca died in Phelps County, Missouri on March 30, 1892. If you have any information on this line I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
