Author: Barnbarroch Surnames: Vance Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.vance/946.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, I'd be very interested to exchange information with you, if you're interested. I have some information which relates directly to Vances in Australia and perhaps therefore would be of interest to you. I'm starting to try to collate some of the Scottish, Irish, American and other overseas Vances in the hope of finally sorting out the connection between them/you and my family of Vans of Barnbarroch. You may be familiar with the work I have already done on the Scottish side of the family which can be found at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~vfarch and with my published paper, "The Origin of the Irish Vances". I am co-ordinating my work as far as I can with that of the Vance DNA research project - for further details of that, see http://www.vancegenealogy.com/index.php. I would urge any male Vances to take a look at the website and consider having a DNA test done as this seems to be a potentially useful tool in untangling the truth of the matter. I would also be very grateful if any of you Vance descendants would be prepared to share your data with me, preferably as a gedcom file to save me re-typing it all. Best wishes to all members of the Vans/Vance family, Jamie Vans of Barnbarroch. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My G G Grandmother was Margaret VANCE. She was born 10 Oct 1771 in Kentucky, married to David RUSK in 1793 in either Kentucky or Indiana and died 13 Sep 1832 in Waynetown, Montgomery County, IN and buried in Pioneer Cemetery, Waynetown County. They had 13 childrein including my G Grandfather Jonathan RUSK. David RUSK was born in Kentucky 10 May 1769 and died 10 Apr 1836. Now I am have not been able to go beyond Margaret and would appreciate it if you could let me know if you have any information on a VANCE woman who married a RUSK (or it could have been RUSH at that time). I know it's a long shot. Thanks so much. John Sandy ned7298@sbcglobal.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Many of the first names listed are still in our family...Sallie, Harvey, George. I made a video of our side of the family for one of our recent family reunions. I have many photos of the Vance Cemetary at the beginning. I know you would love this. Our family has also visited the cemetary there several times. We want to have the next Vance Family Reunion there. Would love to include all of you! I will be happy to send photos for your records if you are interested. Do you have more info? You mention that you are writing a history that will include the Vance's. I would love to have a copy. Sincerely, Kimberly Richardson (Grandmother was the Vance) Emery Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
