That's my disclaimer up front! Now, I try really hard to obtain quality sources but . . the family is so vast - 3000 names now, I think on this side of the family - that it will be a never ending effort. Thank YOU for sharing your sources so generously with me! The info on the children's names below came from Avery County Historical Society, Avery County Heritage Biographies, Genealogies & Church Histories (Volume II or III), (Puddingstone Press, 1981). The children of Abraham and Jane: Abraham II m Ellen Emaline "Emmy" ALDRIDGE Benton? Dan? Jennie m unknown BRASWELL John m Barbara VANCE Nellie m Joseph BENFIELD Mary "Polly" b 12 Apr 1814 Avery Co., NC ; d 13 Mar 1854 (the first grave in the DANIELS Cemetery in Hughes Community, Avery Co., NC; m Perrin DANIELS *** THIS IS MY LINE Harrison "Harris" b abt 1819 NC m Cinthy FRANKLIN Sarah "Sallie" b abt 1822 NC m Willie McNEELY Wesley, Sr. b abt 1830 NC m Kathryn FRANKLIN Alexander b abt 1834 m Polly GOUGE Heidi, I do not have additional info on this Benton although I do have additional info on the other children. Note the question marks by Benton and Dan above . . . . Those were in the original publication so I don't know if the publisher questioned including them or if the informant wasn't sure of their parentage or their names or something else. I also have a Benton JOHNSON in my database who married Tempie ALDRIDGE. She was b 1 Jan 1826 and her parents were James ALDRIDGE and Elizabeth "Betsy" CALLOWAY. It sounds like these Bentons could easily be one and the same. If you can import my info from FTM, I would be happy to share / with you. I suppose I should have sent my last posting back to the JOHNSON List since it had info that might help others. Will send this to you and send copy to the lists in case others can help fill in. Another reason why I assume the Tempie Johnson (my husband's relative) is the daughter of Betsy Caloway and James Aldridge is the proximity of their homes. In the 1850 census, there is an Elizabeth Calaway (b. 1800) living only houses away from Tempie and Burton (they are one page from each other on the census). Harrison Aldridge (who would be Betsy's son and Tempie's brother) is living even closer. Betsy's daughter Ellen, (who would be Tempie's sister) married Franklin Fox and also lived only houses away from Tempie in a later census. I just realized that according to the Arthur book, "Ensley Issacs" married Betsy's daughter Jane. That may explain why "Emsley Isaacs" was the Bondsman for Tempie and Burton. He would have been Tempie's brother-in-law. In addition, Arthur says that Betsy's son Waightstill married a Polly Johnson and Emeline married Abram Johnson. Do you know if Abraham and Jane Johnson had a daughter Polly and a son Abram? That might link the two families together as well. Searching for the family of Arthur Vance b. 6-10-1862 and died in Barren Co............ KY 11-30-1921 at age 39. I know he served in WWI . So far, my research indicates that he was the son of John Henry Vance and Sarah Clark. John Henry Vance appears to be the son of William C. Vance and Louisa Emily Pulliam. I have some additional information past this point but it's more speculation than anything. Anyone with info on this line would love to hear from you. **************Planning your summer road trip?
